Position: Activities Coordinator
Location: Cranford, New Jersey
Employment Type: 30 hours per week
Certifications/Education: BA in Recreation Administration preferred
Requirements: Minimum of H.S. Diploma and 2 years’ experience with senior adults.

Position Summary: We are seeking a passionate and creative Activities Coordinator to implement and lead a variety of engaging programs that meet the social, physical, and emotional needs of our residents. As the Activities Coordinator, you will play a critical role in improving the daily lives of our senior residents by providing an active, inclusive, and joyful community. This individual should have strong organizational abilities and communication skills. We would also like to welcome someone who has empathy and patience in working with senior residents.
Responsibilities: (But not limited to)
- Event Coordination: Design, implement and organize a diverse range of activities including arts, exercise programs, health and wellness sessions, music and social events. You will work closely with other departments, such as the Executive Director, Social Workers, Lunch Program Coordinator, Maintenance Team, and our Tenants Association to ensure the activities are safe and enjoyable. This will include obtaining presenters, providing refreshments, and working with caterers.
- Fitness Classes: Choreographing, choosing appropriate music and teaching senior based fitness class on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Resident Engagement: Get to know the residents and encourage participation that reflects their interests, abilities, and backgrounds. Communication of Activities: Create and maintain a monthly activities sheet listing all the activities planned for that month. Also, design and deliver flyers to each resident’s apartment so that they will be reminded of upcoming events and programs.
- Applying for Grants: Applying for the annual HEART Grant (History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands). This grant supports the fee for entertainers who provide an afternoon of opera style music. Complete a final report when the program has concluded.
