Cook – part time

WSCHC is seeking an experienced Chef for a part time role who can create meals for seniors on a daily basis. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized and has strong multitasking abilities. Candidates should feel comfortable talking to residents and staff and should be committed to ensuring a pleasant dining experience for all tenants.

Job Duties:

-Create a dining atmosphere that is welcoming, relaxed and relationship-driven, where everyone feels at home

-Cook meals daily for senior population

-Work with company budget to manage food costing, controls and compliance

-Develop menus and manage inventory

-Have high expectations for customer service and quality of food

-Ability to prepare low sodium meals

-Follow proper food preparation and storage to assure regulatory compliance, quality food outcome and food safety.

-Maintain a clean, sanitary and orderly dining atmosphere and kitchen environment

-Monitor and document sanitizing agents used throughout the culinary areas and communicate discrepancies

-Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and requirements by following proper procedures for cleaning, sanitizing, dishwashing, food storage, hand washing, food handling and personal cleanliness

-Maintain food, kitchen equipment and cooking area to ensure safety and sanitation requirements are met

-Identify and respond appropriately to emergency situations

-Ensure that necessary supplies, equipment and utensils are available

-Understand and implement universal precautions to prevent transmission of disease through contamination: glove use, hand washing, clean uniform, hair restraints and personal hygiene

-Work as a team with the food service staff

-Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor

Job Requirements:

-5-7 years of Culinary experience.

-3-5 years kitchen Management experience preferred

-ServSafe or Food Handler Certificate required

-3-5 years experience in a similar position and in a similar environment working with seniors a plus
