Springpoint Living at Manalapan is seeking a Director of Resident Activities to join our team!
The Director of Resident Activities is responsible for establishing, maintaining and documenting a residential activities program which promotes the physical, social, mental and spiritual well-being of the community. She/he is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for creating an environment designed to meet the residents’ needs through a full range of social and recreational activities in accordance with the regulations of accrediting agencies.
Responsibilities:
•Assess the preferences and experience of the resident population through an activities survey and/or focus groups.
•Plan and adapt activity programs for a resident population that functions at different levels of physical and mental ability.
•Design and conduct a schedule of activities and out-trips based on the identified needs and interests of the residents with input from the activity coordinators and the multi-disciplinary team and activity committee.
•Coordinate activities and special events with organizations in the outside community.
•Assist/co-lead or lead various activities in active games and recreation, arts and crafts and leisure activities, providing both very instruction and physical demonstration of the event.
•Provide supervision for resident activities staff in the design and implementation of their groups and programs.
•Create the resident activities calendar, the resident monthly calendar and the resident weekly calendar and meet deadlines for preplanning of groups.
•Discuss the residents’ physical, emotional, behavioral, and social functioning in activities programming with departmental staff and the Resident Care Review Committee.
Additional responsibilities:
The Director of Resident Activities will be responsible for the creation and implementation of a Memory Care Program. In this role, you will work with the residents who have dementia and other memory loss issues in designing enrichment programs to help preserve and enhance their skills and meet the needs of their overall well-being.
Education/Experience:
Bachelors degree in Recreation or a Human Services related field with experience in clinical, residential or community based geriatric programming. Certified Dementia Practitioner preferred One-year experience developing and facilitating activity programs for a specialized memory care program preferred.
