Deffet Group, Inc. is pleased to have been retained by Broadmead to conduct an executive search for Vice President for Sustainability.

Broadmead, Inc., affiliated with Friends Care, Inc., Broadmead Community Services LLC, and Friends Share, Inc., is a not-for-profit Life Plan Community situated on a beautiful 94-acre campus in Cockeysville, Maryland.

The vibrant and pioneering community offers the full continuum of care, ranging from garden-style and open concept independent living choices to new luxury apartments, Assisted Living, Memory Support Assisted Living, and both short- and long-term healthcare and rehabilitative services.

The organization is home to approximately 500 residents. Broadmead is also in the final phase of an $80 million repositioning to enhance and expand the resident population and all levels of care.

Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Vice President for Sustainability, a member of the Executive Leadership Team, will work with the Board of Trustees, Department Directors, employees, residents, and contractors to address Broadmead’s commitment and approach to environmental responsibility with regard to its land, buildings, operations, and systems with the goal to minimize Broadmead’s environmental impact. Essential duties require an approximate breakdown of the following: 15% development and implementation of Strategic Plan sustainability initiatives, 10%: support of governance process and initiatives, and 75% oversight and overall execution, mission, and efficacy of the sustainability program.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree highly preferred, as well as working knowledge of sustainability and product rating systems A working knowledge of site and related environmental issues, healthy indoor environments, energy sources and alternatives/efficiencies, water use and efficiency, and materials that support the environment and those to be avoided is also preferred. The candidate will be conversant in sustainable technologies, current and changing trends in sustainability practices, healthy eating and lifestyles, sustainable modes of transportation, and sustainable operations, e.g., landscaping, cleaning, and protecting wildlife and pollinators.
