Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) are growing public health challenges with far-reaching impacts on individuals, families, and the care workforce. This session will explore the broad impact of dementia in communities and why it is a critical issue in public health.

Participants will learn about the work of the Alzheimer’s Association in supporting families and professionals through education, tools, and access to resources. It will also introduce person-centered approaches to dementia care that emphasize dignity, individual strengths, and quality of life—key strategies for improving care outcomes and enhancing the caregiving experience.

Event Objectives:

  • Describe the public health impact of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) on individuals, families, and care systems.
  • Identify the resources and support services provided by the Alzheimer’s Association to assist professionals and families in dementia care.
  • Apply person-centered care principles to improve communication, engagement, and quality of life for individuals living with dementia.
