E-2: Reimagining Employee Retention

NAB; HRCI – 1 Credit Hour | Wednesday, June 5th. 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Session Description:

This session provides insights from a U.S. Chamber survey regarding the challenges faced by unemployed individuals in returning to work after the pandemic. Factors such as the need for caregiving, health concerns, low pay, and a focus on skill development were identified as significant barriers. The survey also highlights the impact of the pandemic on retirement trends, with over 3 million adults opting for early retirement by October 2021. Additionally, the session discusses the phenomenon of the “Great Resignation,” characterized by a significant number of people leaving their jobs in search of better opportunities or work-life balance. The session emphasizes the challenges faced by employers in retaining talent amidst high turnover rates, exacerbated by factors such as decreased international migration, lack of childcare, and increased savings leading to entrepreneurship. Finally, it explores potential solutions, including organizational policy changes, improved compensation, and creating a supportive work environment to enhance employee engagement and retention.

Learning Objectives:

Examine what other similar organizations are doing to attract and retain employees.

Discuss strategies that have worked to attract and retain employees and what the financial impacts might be to the organization at large.

Describe how operational realignment and empowerment of staff leads to greater engagement
