Creative Solutions for Connecting Residents: A Senior Net Housing Training
LANJDE is always looking for additional ways we can help support our members and their communities and find new and innovative solutions for senior housing. On that note, we are pleased to invite Bevy Kothari, the Executive Director of Senior Net, to speak to our members on June 30, 2021. Bevy is a trained gerontologist who has worked in all aspects of the Gerontology spectrum and has a specific interest in government subsidized or assisted housing for the elderly or seniors.
Date: Wednesday, June 30
Time: 2:00 – 3:30
Where: via zoom, contact info@leadingagenjde.org for access info.
Bevy is aware that connectivity is a major obstacle in senior housing and that many of our residents may not have access to the Internet, iPads, iPhones or other phones, tablets and electronic devices. Please join us at the special Summer Housing and Service Coordinator Training to discuss SeniorNet programs and initiatives (as well as their benefits), including the LEAP Program which is funded through the Centre for Aging and Brain Health Innovation (CABHI) in Toronto, Canada. Bevi will also share how SeniorNet can open communication opportunities and offers creative solutions for training residents and helping them stay connected.
SeniorNet programs are no cost to our members or their seniors; all they ask is that participants provide feedback to help in their research.
Senior Net was founded in 1986 as a research project funded by the Markle Foundation to determine how computers and telecommunications could enhance the lives of older adults. The original non-profit organization has helped thousands of seniors in classrooms and learning centers around the world; now, Senior Net also offers virtual access to the same learning, forums, and voice in technology. The organization has, for example, hosted trainings on how to crochet and also the basics of using Facebook and an iPhone. Senior Net’s mission is simply to improve the quality of life of seniors, reduce isolation, and engage them in new and interesting ways.
