April: The Active Shooter / Armed Intruder: Planning For…Responding To…Recovering From The Unthinkable

An active shooter in a senior care facility is unthinkable…but it has happened with catastrophic results.  In this course, a nationally recognized safety and security expert, Steve Wilder, will train attendees on the critical steps necessary to survive an active shooter event.  Attendees will be introduced to the different types of active shooter events, choosing the right option for surviving an active shooter, life-threatening conditions, steps in putting a facility preparedness program in place, and much more.

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand steps to be taken to create a state of preparedness
2. Review basic terminology and concepts associated with an active shooter response
3. Review “lessons learned” from an actual active shooter case study with catastrophic outcomes
4. Explain the FOUR OUTS in the Active Shooter Safety Action Plan for LTC
5. Explain the considerations when deciding between personal safety and resident safety during an active shooter event.
