A profound connection exists between creativity and courage, a symbiotic relationship that propels all of us toward innovative frontiers. This dynamic interaction is a harmonious dance that transforms challenges into opportunities. Courage becomes the driving force that empowers mission-driven aging services providers to venture into uncharted territories and forge innovative pathways.
Renowned Broadway veteran Seth Rudetsky will take center stage, drawing from his illustrious 30-year career on Broadway and two decades as the host of Broadway on SiriusXM. Through captivating storytelling, Seth will unravel tales of remarkable courage exhibited by Broadway performers, showcasing the transformative power of bold choices. Seth will share captivating stories that underscore this transformative potential, from the Ragtime audition where fear backfired, to the audacious decisions of actors who secured leading roles against all odds. Additionally, he will highlight the courageous choice made by George Gershwin in 1924, culminating with Seth sitting at the grand piano and performing the timeless masterpiece “Rhapsody in Blue” in celebration of its 100-year anniversary.
Adding to the richness of our discussion, Brian Stokes Mitchell– dubbed “the last leading man” by The New York Times and Tony Award-winner – will outline ways that courage emboldens us to view challenges not as obstacles but as opportunities to innovate. Brian Stokes Mitchell (Stokes) has enjoyed a career that spans more than 40 years in Broadway, television, film, recordings and concert appearances with the country’s finest. Stokes will share insights from his tenure as Chairman of the Board of the Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actor’s Fund), a position he has continuously held since 2004, as well as his work with Americans for the Arts, and Black Theatre United.
