Wednesday, June 18 | 3:15 PM - 4:15 PM

This program has been submitted (but not yet approved) for Continuing Education for 1.0 total clock hours from NAB/NCERS.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by AXIS Medical Education and LeadingAge NJ/DE.  AXIS Medical Education is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Economic pressures continue to impact providers, and have forced organizations to be smarter about operational and financial oversight. In many cases, we need to do the same or more with less, meaning often fewer staff and perhaps more limited margin (if any) than in years’ past. This session will talk about the traits of healthy organizations and how they ensure a proactive stance to both the headwinds and the opportunities. Time will be spent on the importance of strong leadership, bold governance and a disciplined oversight to regular monitoring of operational and financial performance. Attendees will be provided with resources and tools to utilize in their own organizations and will learn from an overview of provider case studies, both those who have demonstrated strength and sustainability and those who have faced unsustainable business models and the difficult, but necessary, decisions they have had to make.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify key characteristics of proactive, healthy organizations
  2. Understand potential steps to take if your business model is not sustainable.
  3. Learn how various organizations made different choices to grow or change, and why
