Kimberly Hansen serves as Assistant Commissioner, Health Facilities, Survey and Field Operations. HFS&FO inspects licensed or Medicaid-certified health facilities in New Jersey to ensure they meet standards of quality care and investigate complaints from the public.
Prior to this role, she served as the Program Manager of the Acute Care Program where she managed statewide survey operations for all non–long-term care facilities, to ensure compliance with state licensure requirements and federal Medicare/Medicaid certification regulations.
Kimberly also led the Acute Care complaints program, which manages facility-reported events as well as complainant intake and triage, and the division’s Training Team.
She joined the Department in January 2008 and has served in multiple leadership roles, including Supervisor of Inspections for Long-Term Care; Supervising Health Care Evaluator of the Training Team, responsible for the onboarding and education of new surveyors; and Health Care Services Evaluator/Nurse for the Acute Care Program with a specialty in ESRD surveys. Additionally, she holds federal certification as a Long-Term Care Surveyor.
A registered nurse for 29 years, Kimberly has clinical experience in acute care hospital settings, including critical care and telemetry. She earned her nursing diploma from the Helene Fuld School of Nursing in 1996, followed by an Associate of Science degree from Mercer County Community College and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Allegheny University. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing Education at Walden University in 2017.”
