Overview
The Director of Finance position of Ridge Oak Senior Housing is an exciting opportunity for a
committed professional to making a meaningful impact on the operation of a low- to moderate income housing community. The Director of Finance will join Ridge Oak Senior Housing in its
49th year of operation , it is full-time on-site position at Ridge Oak in Basking Ridge, NJ and
reports to the Executive Director.

About the Community
Ridge Oak Senior Housing is a large (26-acre) community, with 308 affordable rental units
servicing over 340 elderly residents. The average age of residents is 80 and the average income
of residents is $20,000. The community is served by a staff of 30 – that includes full-time, parttime, and seasonal staff committed to engaging a diverse and active senior community.
The original Ridge Oak, a project-based “Section 8” facility (248 apartments) was established as
a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization in 1976. Ridge Oak II is a Section 202 PRAC facility (40
apartments) that followed in 2005 and Ridge Oak III, also a Section 202 PRAC facility (20
apartments) in 2013. All apartments are affordable and subsidized by the US Department of
Housing and Urban Development.

Candidate Profile
Favorable candidates must have a demonstrated track record in accounting, finance and
management responsibility. Experience with Quick Books, budgeting, audits, accounts payable,
payroll, benefits administration and related reporting is required. An ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to direct and supervise support staff. Candidate must be collaborative to support the organization’s mission and functions. This is a “hands on” position including but not limited to timekeeping, submission of payroll, benefits administration, audit preparation, processing invoices for payment, preparing month end and quarterly finance reports, budget development.

Primary Responsibilities
• Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting and financial reporting
for four non-profit entities.
• Prepare and process monthly journal entries. Produce timely monthly financials by
reviewing general ledger activity, calculating monthly accruals and prepayments, posting
all journal entries and executing intercompany accounting between entities.
• Prepare monthly reports for management and the Board of Directors, identifying
significant variances and explanations for same.
• Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external CPA, auditors,
Executive Director and Board of Directors, ensuring that all audit requested schedules
and workpapers are prepared in accordance with agreed upon audit schedule.
• Oversee annual IRS 990 preparation.
• Assist external accountant with the preparation of IRS Forms 1099.
• Lead the annual budgeting and planning process.
• Complete required US Department of Housing and Urban Development budgets, requests
for capital funds and financial reports.
• Implement, monitor and update internal controls to mitigate financial risk.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality and dependability. Must keep sensitive
information relative to the organization, employees, and/or the population Ridge Oak
serves confidential.
• Maintain good working relationships with contracted CPA, auditors, bankers, investment
counselors, attorneys, and other professional advisors.
• Communicates with and provide fiscal support to the Executive Director and Department
Directors, in all matters relating to accounting, budgeting and financial reporting.
• On-board new hires, monitor timekeeping and payroll processing.
• Process invoices, payments and receipts. Prepare checks, verify payment accuracy and
maintain vendor relationships.
• Employ, supervise, lead, coach and evaluate support staff with an emphasis on
professional growth and retention.
• Perform other related duties as deemed appropriate.

Professional Qualifications
• Minimum BA or BS in accounting, management or related discipline.
• Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of professional accounting or bookkeeping
experience, preferably with a non-profit entity.
• Proficiency with Quick Books and the Microsoft 365 suite and a willingness to learn and
use new IT technologies.
