LuthercareDeffet Group, Inc. is pleased to have been retained by Luthercare to conduct an executive search for the President & Chief Executive Officer.

Luthercare, located in Lititz, Pennsylvania, is a faith-based, mission-driven organization dedicated to ensuring that all those served reach their full potential. Founded 70+ years ago to serve seniors, the organization has consistently sought to serve a variety of needs in the community and today is a vibrant organization serving a continuum of care embracing both youth and aging. Through its three senior living communities located in Lititz, Lebanon and Columbia and its three safe, nurturing Luthercare for Kids Early Learning Programs located in Lancaster and Lebanon counties, Luthercare helps all it serves – regardless of age – explore, discover and celebrate their potential, whatever their needs may be.

Luthercare’s three senior living communities – Luther Acres, Spang Crest and St. John’s Herr Estate – are home to over 840 residents, employ a dedicated team of approximately 500 staff, and offer a full complement of lifestyles, services, amenities and programs for those 62 and older through its continuum of services: active independent living, supportive personal care, memory care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, as well as in-home support (companion care, non-medical personal care and LPN services).

Luthercare is searching for a President and Chief Executive Officer to lead its communities in meeting the needs of the next generation. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for providing executive leadership in carrying out the mission, vision, values, and objectives of the organization. The CEO will also be responsible for developing, analyzing, and implementing business strategies to ensure continued growth and financial success on all campuses.

The successful candidate must have at least five to eight years in an executive/senior leadership position in eldercare and/or health care fields, as well as a BS/BA or equivalent; however, an advanced degree in a related field is preferred. Experience in a Continuing Care Retirement Community/Life Plan Community is preferred.

The ideal candidate will exhibit the highest level of integrity and compassion and be confident but modest. This executive leadership role requires exceptional business savvy and financial acumen, futuristic thinking, sound judgment, and a deep appreciation for the organization’s core values. This role collaborates in close partnership with the board and executive team and will be both entrepreneurial and innovative in developing strategy, resources, and services to ensure the organization’s long-term viability, advance organizational goals and objectives, and protect the reputation of Luthercare and those served.

The finalist will engender trust, foster transparency in all communication, and be a consummate professional and will evidence a deep commitment to employee growth and development, customer satisfaction and the concepts and practices of continuous improvement. The CEO must be a good listener and open communicator who can thrive within a resident-driven culture by remaining sensitive and open to resident input. They will recognize Luthercare’s stature in the community and will both continue and enhance its outstanding reputation by remaining highly visible and interactive among staff, residents, and the community.
